All full members of the BDA are qualified Dietitians and are registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC). Registration indicates that a Dietitian is competent to practice, and must work within the Standards of conduct, performance and ethics issued by the HPC. The title 'Dietitian' is protected by the HPC which means only those dietitians on the HPC register can use this title. You can check my registration by accessing http://www.hpc-uk.org/register. The profession of dietetics has an official definition established by the international labour office in Geneva. It is classified among the paramedical professions and has been coded under group 0.69.
